Plymouth Whalers Billet (Host) Families plays a major role in our team's success both on and off the ice. It takes special people to open their homes and hearts to our players and we take the utmost care to ensure our players are placed in environments that are conducive to care, understanding and safety. For many hockey parents, when their son joins a junior team, it marks the first time that he has left home. The Whalers make every effort to ensure our players are in a suitable housing environment.
We ask that our players be treated like any other member of the billet family. It is important that the player respects the rules of his host family and the host family respects the rules of the hockey club. The values and principles for success that are essential to become a member of the Plymouth Whalers will be demanded at the rink, in the home, in the community and in school.
To become a billet, please fill out the housing application and return it to the Whalers. This gives us information on your reason for wanting to billet, your geographic location from both the school and rink, number of kids, pets, etc. that will help us determine a good fit. Whether a player has allergies or is an only child and is not used to being around kids, helps us pair families with players for the best fit possible.
After we receive the questionnaire, an on-site visit will be scheduled where our staff visits each home and meets with all members of the family. Other factors are determined by our on-site visit like if the player will have his own room and bathroom and if parking is available for a player with his own car.
If you're interested in becoming a Whalers billet, please contact Joe Stefan at email@example.com or 734-453-8400 ext. 62545 for more information.
