Camps & Clinics - Train Like a Whaler

Compuware Arena is host to the Ontario Hockey League's Plymouth Whalers, a league that produces the most NHL talent on a yearly basis.  During the year, the Plymouth Whalers host several camps and clinics for children to be taught by Whalers staff and players.  The experiences shared by the participants last for a life-time! Information about the upcoming camps is listed below:

  • Mini-mites, mites, squirts, and pee-wee level players
  • Players will be grouped by ability.
  • Please indicate if you would like to be paired with a friend.

Summer 2014 Clinics

  • All Day Camp: August 4-8, 2014 (9am to 4pm) ($375*)
  • 5-Day Camp (Session 1): August 11-15, 2014 (9am to 12pm) ($225*)
  • 5-Day Camp (Session 2): August 11-15, 2014 (1pm to 4pm) ($225*)
  • 3-Day Camp: August 18-20, 2014 (9am to 12pm) ($135*)

Additional Camp Information...

All Day Camp: This five day school will balance on-ice instruction with off-ice development. The focus will be power skating, stick handling, shooting, passing and game situations.   Off-ice instruction will include working on balance and coordination. The school will enhance conditioning and utilize athletic games to promote teamwork. Skills taught include stick handling, proper shooting and passing techniques, starts, stops, edges, crossovers, pivots, agility and speed training. The camp consists of 3 hours on ice, 3 hours off ice, a lunch break, and a movie session. Lunch will be provided by CJ’s Restaurant. Please, no beginners in the All-Day Camp.

5-Day Camp: This five day school is designed to reinforce proper skating, while working on proper stick-handling techniques. Skills learned include forward and backward skating, stopping, basic stick handling, proper shooting and passing techniques and scrimmage. The camp consists of 1.5 hours on ice and 1.5 hours off ice.

3-Day Camp: This session will serve as a tune-up for all players getting ready for fall try-outs and draft skates. The school focuses on power skating, agility, balance, stops and starts, stick handling, and game situations and is geared more towards travel players. The camp consists of 1.5 hours on ice and 1.5 hours off ice.
