COMPUWARE ARENA HIRES NEW DIRECTOR OF SALES and MARKETING

Denise Ronayne Attended Compuware Arena Events with Family

PLYMOUTH, MICompuware Arena President Mike Vellucci announced the hiring of Denise Ronayne as Director of Sales and Marketing for the Compuware Arena and the Ontario Hockey League’s Plymouth Whalers, effective immediately.

Ronayne comes to Compuware Arena and the Whalers after working as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for SKM Marketing, a custom publisher based in Bloomfield Hills. Before that, Ronayne worked for Doner Advertising in Southfield, working directly in the automotive industry with Ford and Mazda.

“Denise has been successful in sales in the Detroit-market for a long time,” said Vellucci. “Her presentation and ideas during our interviews were outstanding. With her passion for sales and the Whalers, Denise is a good fit for our organization.”

Ronayne grew up in Farmington and attended Farmington High School before attending the University of Michigan and earning an MBA in Marketing from Wayne State University in Detroit.

Ronayne became familiar the Whalers when relatives became land-parents for the team.

“We started attending four or five Whaler games a season as a family,” Ronayne said. “And then we started following Catholic Central High School hockey, who also plays out of Compuware Arena. So we came to Compuware Arena all the time.”

Ronayne is excited to start spreading the word about the Whalers and everything that Compuware Arena offers.

“There are a lot of things here to be extremely excited about,” Ronayne said. “It’s a great organization with really good people. The Whalers are good players who grow up in the community. Our hockey families love this place, and there are reasons for other families to begin to love this place.

“At heart, I’m a hockey fan. I love the noise, I love the background. Compuware Arena provides a great backdrop to do a lot of fun things for everyone involved.”

After opening up the 2008-09 season on Friday, September 19 in Kitchener, Plymouth’s home opener is Saturday, September 20 at 7:05 p.m. against the Erie Otters. Season-tickets, FLEX packages, group rates and single-game tickets can be purchased by calling the Compuware Arena Box Office at (734) 453-8400.
