SUDBURY EVENS ROGERS OHL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES WITH 7-3 VICTORY OVER PLYMOUTH

 

PLYMOUTH – The Sudbury Wolves used a balanced attack and steady goaltending to defeat the Plymouth Whalers, 7-3, to even the best-of-seven Ontario Hockey League Rogers Championship Series at one game each. 3,331 watched the game Sunday afternoon at the Compuware Sports Arena.

 

Six different Wolves scored at least two points each, including first star Andy Self (2 goals and an assist), second star Devin DiDiomete (2 goals), third star Matt Dias (1-3), Kevin Baker (1-2), Nick Foligno (0-3) and Justin Donati (1-2). Sebastian Dahm stopped 42-of-45 shots in goal for Sudbury.

 

James Neal (12), Daniel Ryder (8) and Dan Collins (7) scored for Plymouth.

 

Sudbury broke open a 1-1 game after twenty minutes of play with four goals in the second period on goals by DiDiomete (5:03), Dias (9:50) and two by Self (10:48 and 18:10, respectively) sandwiched around Plymouth goals by Ryder (11:08) and Collins (18:47).

 

The Wolves then closed out the scoring in the third period with two unanswered goals – DiDiomete (11:35) and Donati (16:46).

 

Plymouth outshot Sudbury, 45-31.
