PLYMOUTH WHALERS SIGN FORWARD ADAM NANJI
16-year-old forward was selected in the ninth round of the 2009 OHL Draft
PLYMOUTH, MI — Plymouth Whalers President, General Manager and Head Coach Mike Vellucci announced the signing of 16-year-old forward Adam Nanji to a standard Ontario Hockey League contract. Nanji was selected by the Whalers in the ninth round (173rd overall) of the 2009 Ontario Hockey League Draft.

After participating in the Whalers Rookie Orientation Camp in May and playing in Plymouth’s training camp in August, Nanji was recalled from the Streetsville Derbys of the Central Canadian Hockey League, where he had scored three goals with two assists for five points over 10 games.
Nanji reported to Plymouth today for practice, adds depth to the Whalers forward group and may see some temporary action this season. Plymouth is currently playing without injured forwards Ryan Hayes, Jamie Devane, RJ Mahalak, Stefan Noesen and Austin Mattson. Last week, the Whalers acquired 19-year-old right wing James Marsden from Kingston, who played on the road last weekend for Plymouth in Barrie, Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie.
While playing in Plymouth, Nanji will be attending school at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park.
Plymouth plays in Owen Sound tomorrow night and in London on Friday before returning home on Saturday to host Sudbury at 7:05pm at Compuware Arena. Tickets are available by calling (734) 453-8400.

The Whalers will be playing two Friday night home games in October – October 16 against Ottawa and October 30 against Owen Sound – and two more in November (November 6 against Sarnia and November 13 against Guelph).
