WHALERS DRAW SAULT STE. MARIE IN OHL FIRST ROUND PLAYOFF SERIES
Plymouth opens series Friday, March 19 and Saturday, March 20 at 7:05pm at Compuware Arena
PLYMOUTH, MI — The Plymouth Whalers will play the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the best-four-of-seven Ontario Hockey League quarterfinal series, starting Friday, March 19 at 7:05pm at Compuware Arena. After hosting the Soo in Game 2 of the series on Saturday, March 20 at 7:05pm, the series will shift to the Essar Centre in Sault Ste. Marie on Tuesday, March 23.

Game 2 – Saturday, March 20, 7:05pm – Sault Ste. Marie at Plymouth
Game 3 – Tuesday, March 23, 7:05pm – Plymouth at Sault Ste. Marie
Game 4 – Wednesday, March 24, 7:05pm – Plymouth at Sault Ste. Marie

HOW THEY GOT THERE: Plymouth (38-27-1-2) finished fourth in the OHL Western Conference and qualified for the OHL playoff for the 19th straight season, which leads all current OHL teams. Sault Ste. Marie (36-27-1-4) missed the playoffs last year, but enjoyed a revival this season with General Manager Dave Torrie and Head Coach Denny Lambert.
PLAYOFF HISTORY: Plymouth and Sault Ste. Marie have met four other times in the OHL Playoffs:
2000 – Plymouth eliminated Sault Ste. Marie, four-games-to-one, in the first round.
1997 – Sault Ste. Marie eliminated Plymouth, four-games-to-one, in the first round.
1994 – Plymouth eliminated Sault Ste. Marie, four-games-to-two, in the second round.
1993 – Sault Ste. Marie eliminated Plymouth, four-games-to-one, in the third round.
